Terms of Use

By using this site you agree to these terms. Please read them, especially the sections on accuracy and liability.

Last updated:

1. Acceptance of terms

These terms govern your use of County Paycheck (the "site"). If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update the terms from time to time; the date above shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the changes.

2. Informational use only

The site provides general estimates of take-home pay and cost of living, built from public government data and stated assumptions. The content is for information and education. It is not tax, legal, accounting, investment or financial advice, and it does not create any advisory relationship. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions about employment, relocation, taxes or money.

3. Accuracy and assumptions

We work to be accurate, but we do not guarantee that the information is complete, current or error-free. Estimates assume a single filer with wage income only and the standard deduction, exclude local taxes and many personal costs, and rely on survey data that carries sampling error. Actual wages, taxes and expenses will differ. Details are on the methodology page.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the site unlawfully; interfere with or overload it; attempt to gain unauthorized access; use automated tools to copy the site at a scale or speed that harms its operation; or republish substantial portions of our content as your own. Normal browsing, linking to our pages and brief quotation with attribution are welcome.

5. Intellectual property

The text, design, layout, tables, calculations and software of the site are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. Underlying government data are public information; see the sources page. Names of agencies and organizations belong to their owners, and mention of them does not imply endorsement.

6. Advertising and third parties

The site displays third-party advertising and links to third-party websites. We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content, products or practices. Your dealings with advertisers are solely between you and them. See the privacy policy.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or secure.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, County Paycheck and its owners, operators and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of income, profit, data or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the site or from reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent the law allows. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site's owners and operators from claims arising out of your misuse of the site or your violation of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the site's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in that state have jurisdiction over disputes, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

11. Changes to the site

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice. Pages and data may be added, updated or removed as new datasets and tax rules are released.
